The Indigenous constitutional recognition process is a "once in a lifetime opportunity" to have a conversation with the Australia public, says Professor Davis, who in December was one of 16 prominent Australians appointed to the national Referendum Council. Professor Davis, who is Chair of the UN's permanent forum on Indigenous issues, says it is a privilege to be selected, describing it as a "continuation and recognition" of more than a decade's work on Indigenous constitutional reform.
